Partridges

These are subspecies of the red-legged partridge, which is native to south-western Europe (France, Spain, Portugal and parts of Italy) and has recently been successfully introduced to Britain.

In order to find this out I had to consult the website of the Fenland Wildfowlers Association, which I found as a result of googling 'Corsican partridge'.

The red-legged partridge is one of almost 50 species listed on Wikipedia's Partridge page. None of the three subspecies mentioned in the question is listed.

Not exactly general knowledge then.

OK, it's Christmas. But one suspects that these questions were a lot more fun to set than they were to answer. Why not at least ask about species that are listed in everyone's favourite online encylopedia? At least two of them (the grey and the red-legged) are common in Britain.
